Over $200,000 in grant funding has been allocated to market eastern Connecticut tourism

(December 10, 2020) – The Eastern Regional Tourism District (ERTD) today announced the final funding recipients for the 2020 Regional Marketing Partnership Program. 9 additional programs were approved for marketing grants to promote tourism and hospitality opportunities in Eastern Connecticut. As part of the effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus, we have made the difficult decision to close the Florence Griswold Museum to the public beginning Saturday, March 14 and through at least March 31, and to cancel all programs during this time.

New London, CT – The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Australian born contemporary artist Judy Cotton. In an environment impacted by global warming, Cotton creates artwork with a focus on water, glaciers, melting ice, and insect life, offering a meditation on the natural world and the forces that threaten its balance. Hidden Water: Paintings and Sculpture by Judy Cotton will be on view from July 14 through November 11, 2018.
Judy Cotton was born in Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories and the Clinical Research Unit, New Haven will support more than 60 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2018 competitive grants program.

It’s the return of the Florence Griswold Museum’s highly anticipated annual outdoor exhibition, Wee Faerie Village. This year the family-friendly walking trail highlights thirty-one faerie-sized places handcrafted by artists, designers, and faerie-aficionados. Last year over 15,000 visitors enjoyed the month-long event.

Schumann Foundation. The grant will allow the Museum to implement a transformative landscape master plan designed to completely re-envision how the historic landscape is interpreted by providing visitors with a more authentic sense of the Lyme Art Colony painters’ interaction with the land and the site’s agrarian past. Robert Schumann was a devoted trustee and patron of the Museum Old Lyme, CT – A “quintessential New England” weekend, this year’s Old Lyme Midsummer Festival kicks off July 28 with a toe-tapping Friday night concert on the lawn of the Florence Griswold Museum, and continues Saturday, July 29 up and down Lyme Street with new offerings and old favorites throughout the day.
This year’s 31st annual festival again takes place in the heart of Old Lyme's historic district. The mission of the festival partners is to celebrate the cultural heritage of Old Lyme, with art, Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories will support 67 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2017 competitive grants program.

The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT presents A Flutter in Time: Faerie Houses Around the Old Lyme, CT – Thanks to a grant from The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, all residents of New London County receive free admission to the Florence Griswold Museum on second Sundays this summer - June 12, July 10, August 14, and September 11.
The Museum’s riverfront landscape is situated on a 13-acre site in the historic village of Old Lyme. In addition to the restored Florence Griswold House, where a generation of Impressionist artists lived, the Museum features an exhibition gallery, The seventh annual GardenFest at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme is a ten day celebration of the site’s historic gardens, featuring special events, displays, demonstrations, and family activities. From June 3 through 12, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities for all ages and interests. Most events are included with Museum admission. Children 12 and under are always free.
This year’s exhibition provides the perfect accompaniment to the Museum’s historic landscape, gardens, and the The Artist’s Garden: American Impressionism and the Garden Movement, 1887–1920 culminates its national tour at the Florence Griswold Museum, where it is complemented by the Museum’s Historic Garden and Landscape, June 3–September 18, 2016.

Lyme, CT – The 9th Annual Land Trusts Photo Contest winners were announced at a March 6, 2015 reception highlighting the winning photos and displaying all entered photos.
Land trusts in Lyme, Old Lyme, Salem, Essex and East Haddam jointly sponsor the annual amateur photo contest to celebrate the scenic countryside and diverse wildlife and plants in these towns. The ages of the photographers ranged from children to senior citizens.
